Two Brothers With The American Dream:
A Personal Note from Joshua Nabatkhorian
“When the revolution took place in Iran during the early 1970’s and the Shah was dethroned, my brother and I came to the United States to continue our studies in Civil Engineering at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. During that time we lived with our uncle, who also owns an Oriental rug gallery, and learned the rug business from him.
Upon graduating from the George Washington University, my brother and I decided to stay in the United States because of all the changes that had occurred in Iran. We decided to put to use all we had learned from our family, and opened our own Oriental rug gallery. Our parents, grandparents, and siblings all joined us in the United States as soon as they were able to leave Iran.
Under the guidance of our grandfather and father, we not only sold rugs, but learned the value of antique and semi-antique rugs and the importance of preserving these magnificent pieces by restoring them to their original beauty. We found the best rug weavers and repair experts, who continue to be successful in restoring some very ancient masterpieces. Additionally, we discovered that properly cleaning these rugs was critical in helping preserve them and avoiding early deterioration. For this reason, we hired true professionals to hand wash the rugs.
At J & J Oriental Rug Gallery, our staff is very knowledgeable, we offer reasonable prices, and we provide all the services relating to the purchase of Oriental rugs, from sale to delivery and installation, to decorating suggestions, to cleaning and repairing. Each of our rugs comes with its own Certificate of Authenticity.
We truly look forward to serving you and helping you with all of your Oriental rug needs!”
